There are no tunnels, but they do create small holes in the wood to push droppings outside and to allow winged termites to leave the nest to fulfill their mission. Subterranean<\/span> termite species<\/b> build <\/span>mud tube galleries, <\/b>formed mainly of soil and droppings, to protect themselves as they move toward the wood.
